Why Does This Happen?
Android manages notifications differently than iPhone. Depending on your device manufacturer (Google, Samsung, Motorola, etc.), Android version, and in some cases your mobile carrier, notification behavior and settings may vary.
Unlike iOS, notification sounds on Android are managed by your device's notification settings—not by the FlowHawk app. This means changing a notification sound within the app may not change the sound you hear. Instead, Android uses notification categories (also called notification channels), which are configured through your device's Settings app.
If you're not receiving notifications or would like to review your notification settings, review the steps below.
Verify Notifications Are Enabled
Open Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Tap App notifications.
Select FlowHawk.
Make sure Allow notifications is turned On.
Review Notification Categories
Android organizes notifications into notification categories (also called notification channels). Each category can have its own notification settings.
From the FlowHawk notification settings, locate the list of notification categories.
Review each category that is important to you, such as:
Added to Rooms
New Messages
New Priority Messages
Ensure each category is enabled.
If available, tap each category to review settings such as:
Notification sound
Vibration
Pop on screen
Silent notifications
Note: Depending on your Android device, notification sounds may be managed by the operating system rather than the app. Some devices allow you to choose a sound for each notification category, while others use your phone's default notification sound.
Allow Background Activity
Allowing FlowHawk to run in the background helps Android deliver notifications reliably.
Open Settings.
Tap Apps.
Select FlowHawk.
Tap App battery usage.
Turn Allow background usage On.
Disable Battery Optimization
Some Android devices restrict background activity to conserve battery life.
Open Settings.
Tap Apps.
Select FlowHawk.
Tap Battery.
If available, set the app to Unrestricted.
Review Do Not Disturb Settings
If Do Not Disturb is enabled, notifications may be silenced.
Open Settings.
Tap Modes or Do Not Disturb (depending on your device).
Turn Do Not Disturb Off or configure exceptions to allow important notifications.
Restart Your Device
Restarting your phone can resolve temporary issues with Android's notification services.
Reinstall the App
If notifications are still not working after verifying the settings above, reinstalling the app may help. Reinstalling refreshes the app's notification registration with Android and can resolve rare issues where the device's notification registration becomes out of sync.
To reinstall:
Press and hold the FlowHawk app icon.
Tap Uninstall.
Reinstall FlowHawk from the Google Play Store.
Sign in to your account.
Allow notifications if prompted.
Enable SMS Notifications
SMS notifications can provide an additional layer of reliability if app notifications are delayed, suppressed, or missed.
Open the FlowHawk app.
Navigate to your notification settings.
Verify that SMS notifications are enabled for the notification types you wish to receive.
Confirm your mobile phone number is correct in your user profile.
Enabling both push notifications and SMS notifications helps ensure important alerts reach you, even if your device delays or suppresses app notifications.
