Why Does This Happen?
Apple's iOS is designed to help conserve battery life and reduce interruptions by learning how you use your apps. Over time, iOS may prioritize notifications from apps you interact with frequently and reduce background activity for apps that are opened less often.
In general:
Apps that are opened regularly are treated as more important and are more likely to receive timely background updates.
Apps that are rarely opened may receive lower priority for certain background activities.
Force-closing apps can also limit iOS's ability to perform background tasks.
To help ensure you receive notifications consistently, we recommend opening FlowHawk periodically and avoiding force-closing the app unless you're troubleshooting an issue.
Check Your Notification Settings
Open Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Select FlowHawk.
Verify the following are enabled:
Allow Notifications
Lock Screen
Notification Center
Banners
Sounds (optional)
(Optional) Banner Style
Banner Style controls how notifications appear when your iPhone is unlocked and in use.
While viewing the FlowHawk notification settings, locate Banner Style.
Select Persistent or Temporary based on your preference.
Persistent banners remain visible at the top of the screen until you dismiss or interact with them, making them easier to notice.
Temporary banners automatically disappear after a few seconds and may be easier to miss.
Note: Banner Style only affects how notifications are displayed after they arrive. It does not impact whether notifications are delivered to your device.
Check Focus Mode and Do Not Disturb
Focus modes can silence or hide notifications even when notifications are enabled.
Open Settings.
Tap Focus.
Review any active Focus modes (Work, Personal, Sleep, etc.).
Under Allowed Notifications, add FlowHawk as an allowed app.
Disable Scheduled Summary
If Scheduled Summary is enabled, iOS may delay notifications and deliver them later in a summary instead of immediately.
Open Settings.
Tap Notifications.
Tap Scheduled Summary.
Either:
Turn Scheduled Summary off, or
Ensure FlowHawk is not included in the summary.
Verify Background App Refresh
Open Settings.
Tap General.
Tap Background App Refresh.
Ensure Background App Refresh is enabled.
Confirm FlowHawk is enabled in the list of apps.
Check Low Power Mode
Low Power Mode can reduce background activity.
Open Settings.
Tap Battery.
If Low Power Mode is enabled, temporarily disable it and test notifications again.
Verify Cellular Data Access
Open Settings.
Tap Cellular.
Ensure Cellular Data is enabled.
Verify FlowHawk is allowed to use cellular data.
Additional Recommendations
Open FlowHawk periodically, especially if you rely on notifications throughout the day.
Avoid force-closing the app unless directed by support.
Ensure your device has a stable internet connection through Wi-Fi or cellular data.
Keep your iPhone and the FlowHawk app updated to the latest available versions.
If you frequently miss notifications while actively using your phone, consider setting Banner Style to Persistent so notifications remain visible until you acknowledge them.
Enable SMS Notifications
SMS notifications can provide an additional layer of reliability if app notifications are delayed, suppressed, or missed.
Open the FlowHawk app.
Navigate to your notification settings.
Verify that SMS notifications are enabled for the notification types you wish to receive.
Confirm your mobile phone number is correct in your user profile.
Enabling both push notifications and SMS notifications helps ensure important alerts reach you, even if your device delays or suppresses app notifications.
